ArcticLight

Hello! I'm Arctic, a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with over 10 years of experience in full-stack, backend, microservices, and especially distributed systems. I have a passion for creating elegant, efficient, and user-friendly systems, as well as a deep background in cybersecurity.

About Me

I've been working in the industry now for over a decade. In my time, I've worked frontend, backend, and on infrastructure. I have a deep knowledge of distributed systems and especially networked services, including the “simple” things like websites and web services, to more involved projects including cloud infrastructure, microservices management, and even platform development of operators and workflows in Kubernetes. Primarily, I've worked in the Fintech and Information Security industries.

Some of the projects I've worked on include:

  • Traditional *NIX administration work, including performing system management within secured, hardened, or airgapped environments.
  • Cloud infrastructure administration and DevOps work, including traditional VMs as well as modern workloads like containerized applications on Kubernetes, as well as Serverless on AWS.
  • Data visualization products for exploring and understanding complex workflows and data-flows thorughout customer systems.
  • Customer-facing web services, including an app that helped users visualize, graph, and explore data hosted in an intelligence platform.
  • Internal developer-facing tooling for Kubernetes-based services management, including operators for managing workflows, and development tools to help teams work smarter and faster.

I'm a big believer in using the right tool for the right job, and in iterating quickly (and safely) to achieve success. My primary skills are in Golang and TypeScript, though I've also worked with a dizzying array of technologies, languages, and frameworks throughout my career, since there is no one silver bullet or one-size-fits-all solution to any problem. Adapting to new challenges while picking up new tech to do so is a vitally important part of any engineer's job.
